The next Lowe’s Build & Grow Clinic will be this Saturday April 28th 2012. If you don’t know what this is yet then your kids are in for a treat. These free kids events are designed for children 1st to 5th grade; although I have seen children both younger and older attend.
It starts at 10am until they run out of free project kits which is usually around 11.30-12.00am. Depending on the project, kits can run out fast so show up on time or earlier to make sure your kids get a free kit. You can also sign up online a week or so in advance and they’ll save a kit for you, but only until 10.15 am. After that they have to give them away to kids waiting who didn’t sign up.
At this Lowe’s free kids workshop, the kids will be making a terrarium. A terrarium is an enclosed glass container where you add plants that you don’t intend to water once it’s sealed. Since the water can’t escape by evaporation or drainage it creates a sort of biosphere where plants can grow for years without you doing anything.
This is a great opportunity to not just do some building but alos learn a bit about plants by watching them grow.
